The Nanometer – ARdur®& ARunic® / EPISODE 5

Continuation of our tutorial, "The Nanometer", on improving the surface quality of an anti-reflective coating, to facilitate daily maintenance.

In the past, an exterior anti-reflective treatment of the glass was very fragile and not very resistant. Recently, exterior treatments, mostly in the watch industry, have become robust.

The concern in all of this is cleanliness!

Dirt adheres more readily to these coatings than to a bare sapphire crystal, the wearer of the watch must often clean it and, if possible, with a specific product.

But since 2017, ECONORM has put on the market 2 products, ARdur® and ARunic®, which completely overcome these difficulties. Better yet, they are easier to maintain than a bare sapphire.

Below is a comparison of the roughness between a standard, older generation hard antireflection and ARdur®. Like sapphire, its structure is smooth, which allows easy cleaning of the surface throughout the life of the watch.
